Nigeria carrier Ibom Air begins Ghana operations

Nigerian carrier Ibom Air on Tuesday commenced its operations in Ghana.

Ibom Air will be operating from Lagos to Ghana’s Kotoka International Airport. The Akwa Ibom government owns the airline 100%, reports ThisDay.

“We are thrilled to commence our regional operations… with the inaugural flight between Lagos and Accra. This is a significant step for Ibom Air as we expand our network out of Nigeria and into the African continent,” the executive director and chief operating officer of Ibom Air, George Uriesi, said in the ThisDay report.

“This new route aims to enhance connectivity between Nigeria and Ghana, fostering tourism, trade, and tighter economic and cultural ties. Ibom Air remains committed to delivering exceptional services to our passengers, and we invite travellers between Nigeria and Ghana to choose Ibom Air and experience the best of our service offering,” he added.

According to the managing director of Ghana Airports Company Limited, Pamela Djamson-Tettey, the inaugural flight was a demonstration of the confidence in Ghana’s aviation industry and the great strides made so far in positioning Ghana as the preferred aviation hub and leader in airport business in West Africa.

‘’We are extremely happy to have you on board. Your services will undoubtedly offer the travelling public with more options for connectivity between Ghana and Nigeria,’’ Djamson-Tettey said.
