UEFA Announces 2027 Champions League Finals: Madrid to Host Men’s Final, Warsaw to Stage Women’s Final

UEFA has confirmed that the 2027 Champions League finals will take place in Madrid and Warsaw, with the men’s final set for the Estadio Metropolitano and the women’s final scheduled for the National Stadium in Warsaw.

This decision was made during the Executive Committee meeting held in Tirana on Thursday.

The Estadio Metropolitano, home to Atletico Madrid, is no stranger to hosting major football events, having previously witnessed Liverpool’s triumph over Tottenham Hotspur in the 2019 Champions League final. The choice of Madrid underscores the city’s rich football heritage and its capacity to host large-scale events.

Meanwhile, the National Stadium in Warsaw will host the women’s final, marking a significant moment for women’s football in Poland and a chance to showcase the growing prominence of the women’s game on the European stage.

In addition to the 2027 finals, UEFA also announced that the Super Cup match next year will be held in Salzburg, Austria. The 2026 Champions League finals will take place at the Puskas Arena in Budapest for the men’s match, while the women’s final will be held at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo.

While these exciting announcements were made, UEFA refrained from making a decision on requests from LaLiga and Serie A to stage league matches abroad. Italy’s football federation (FIGC) recently approved AC Milan’s match against Como to be played in Perth, Australia, while LaLiga is seeking to move Villarreal’s game against Barcelona to Miami. UEFA stated that they would consult all stakeholders, including fans, before finalizing any decisions regarding these requests.

The Executive Committee acknowledged the growing interest in playing domestic league matches outside of Europe, emphasizing the need to consider the views of all parties involved. Supporters’ groups across the continent have expressed their opposition to such plans, arguing that they undermine the integrity of domestic competitions for short-term financial gain.
