Stephen Blewett takes over from Selorm Adadevoh as CEO of MTN Ghana

Stephen Blewett has officially commenced work as the newly appointed chief executive officer of MTN Ghana.

He takes over from Selorm Adadevoh, who has been reassigned to serve as chief commercial officer of the MTN Group with effect from March 2024.

Blewett rejoined MTN in July 2023 as the operations executive for markets, with executive responsibility for the group’s smaller West and Central African markets and for providing broader operations support across that region to the group’s senior vice president for markets.

Prior to that, he was chief operating officer of Digicel. Before that, he spent seven years at MTN in the role of CEO for MTN Benin and then MTN Cameroon.

Stephen Blewett brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having most recently served as the group chief operating officer of Digicel, based in Kingston, Jamaica.

In this role, he oversaw 20 country CEOs and spearheaded developments in key areas such as marketing, information and technology, procurement, financial services, gaming and digital media.

He previously held similar leadership roles in the telecommunications industry, including chief executive officer of MTN Benin and chief commercial officer at the Namibian mobile operator MTC.

In 2020, he was voted MTN CEO of the Year by his peers. Blewett’s career also includes notable positions such as chief executive of 3D Holdings, managing director of Autopage Cellular, marketing and sales executive at Telkom Mobile, and executive head of sales and marketing at MCell in Mozambique.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa.

Blewett is also a published author of books on marketing, sales and business, further demonstrating his expertise and thought leadership in the industry.
