Stock market rallies 86.11 points to close at 2,475.59 points on Wednesday

Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) benchmark index the GSE-Composite index ended trading activities at 2,475.59 points on Wednesday.

A the close of trading activities on Wednesday, the benchmark index had recorded gains of 86.11 points, leading to a decline in the YTD returns on share prices listed on the local bourse.

YTD returns on equities on the local bourse declined to -11.25% from the previous -14% YTD returns. 

With the GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI), it slightly gained 2.18 points to close trading at 2,080.94 points translating into a YTD return of -3.30%. 

 Sixteen (16) equities traded on Wednesday, ending with three (3) gainers. CAL, MTNGH and GLD were the gainers as they gained GH¢0.02, GH¢0.08  and GH¢6.30 to close trading at GH¢0.76, GH¢0.88 and GH¢163.50  respectively.

Market capitalization of the GSE for the day settled at GH¢63.60bn.

A total of 3,239,346 shares valued at GH¢10,649,881.55 was traded on  the day. Compared with the previous GSE trading day (August 9), Wednesday’s data shows a 1966.33% improvement in volume traded and 1996.04% improvement in trade turnover.

Scancom PLC. (MTNGH)  accounted for 74.56% of the total value traded and recorded the  largest volumes traded.
