GRIDCo announce close to 3 months cut in power supply to parts of Accra
Power transmission company, the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has announced a cut in supply of electricity to some parts of the capital, Accra.
According to a press statement by GRIDCo, the power outage to the affected areas commence from Saturday, April 9, 2022 to Thursday, June 30, 2022 (ie for 2 months and 3 weeks).
The cut in power supply, the power transmission company asserts, is to aid the re-construction of transmission lines from the Achimota substation through Avenor to the Mallam substation.
The re-construction of the transmission lines GRIDCo states, involves taking out of service two 161kV transmission lines, hence the power outage.

Adding that the power outage is to enable GRIDCo upgrade the transmission capacity on each line to be able to meet the growing demand for electricity in Accra and its environs.
“The outage will affect customers served by the Electricity Company of Ghana’s distribution systems crossing these transmission lines (between the Achimota substation at Dzorwulu and Avenor in Accra during the day for the stated period,” GRIDCo stated.
