Agenda 111: Health Ministry Refutes $1.3bn Secured Funding Source Assertion by Dr Amin Adam
The Ministry of Health has refuted claims by former Finance Minister, Dr. Amin Adams, that the previous government had secured $1.3 billion in funding for the completion of the Agenda 111 hospitals before leaving office.
In a statement dated February 4, 2025, the Ministry also dismissed assertions that three hospitals under the project had been completed, equipped, and commissioned prior to the government’s exit.
According to the Ministry, a recent visit by Health Minister Kwabena Akandoh revealed that the hospitals in question lacked essential medical infrastructure, including a medical gas system, imaging and mortuary equipment, ophthalmology and ENT facilities, labor and theater equipment, and medical furniture. The statement emphasized that “none of the hospitals is currently operational.”
The Ministry further disclosed that approximately $400 million has so far been spent on the Agenda 111 project, with the total estimated cost now standing at $1.58 billion.
It urged the public to disregard the former Finance Minister’s claims, reinforcing the government’s commitment to the project’s successful completion.
