GSA Board Chair Lauds Authority’s Commitment to Good Corporate Governance at Golden Jubilee Celebration

Board Chair of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA), Stella Wilson, has lauded the institution’s unwavering commitment to good corporate governance over the past five decades.

Speaking at the launch of the GSA’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, she emphasized the pivotal role good corporate governance has played in shaping the Authority’s reputation and operational excellence.

“Our commitment to good corporate governance has been unwavering, we have implemented robust frameworks to ensure that every decision is made with integrity and in the best interests of our stakeholders, including importers, exporters, transit shippers, shipping service providers, sister agencies, and the general public,” she stated.

Further noting the Authority’s dedication to good corporate governance, has fortified the GSA’s internal processes and enhanced its national and international reputation, earning the institution numerous awards consistently over the years.

Transparency and Trust

Ms Wilson also highlighted transparency as a guiding principle of the Authority’s operations, ensuring that information is shared openly and stakeholders remain well-informed.

“By being accountable for our actions, we have built a culture of trust and reliability,” she remarked, adding that this approach has bolstered the GSA’s financial practices, operational procedures, and strategic decisions.

Balancing Innovation with Compliance

In the ever-evolving shipping industry, the GSA’s governance framework has allowed it to remain agile and forward-looking. According to Ms Wilson, the Authority has fostered a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation while ensuring strict adherence to regulatory standards.

“The balance we have guarded jealously has enabled us to remain resilient, adapting to changes while upholding the highest standards of governance,” she affirmed.

Looking Ahead

Concluding her remarks, Ms Wilson assured stakeholders of the GSA’s continued dedication to refining its governance practices and leveraging new technologies to elevate its standing in the shipping and logistics industry.

“As we look to the future, our commitment to good governance will remain steadfast. Our goal is not only to maintain our standing but to ensure that the Ghana Shippers’ Authority remains a beacon of excellence in Ghana and beyond,” she stated.
