Importers and Exporters Association Commends BoG for Cedi Stability
The leadership of the Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana (IEAG), led by its Executive Secretary, Mr Samson Awingobit Asaki, on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, paid a courtesy call on Governor Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama at the Bank of Ghana’s headquarters.
The delegation, which was received by the Second Deputy Governor, Mrs Matilda Asante-Asiedu, lauded the central bank for its role in stabilising the cedi and enhancing Ghana’s macroeconomic outlook.
Mr Awingobit noted that the Association greatly appreciated the Bank’s policy measures under Dr Asiama’s leadership, which, he said, had provided relief for businesses dependent on foreign exchange.
He, however, urged the Bank to extend further support to address lingering concerns within the trading community that required regulatory intervention.
Governor Asiama, in his response, reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to fostering a stable macroeconomic environment that supports private sector growth.
He assured the Association that the central bank would continue to work closely with the business community to address their challenges.
The Ghanaian Cedi, with a year-to-date appreciation rate of 40% against the US dollar, has been adjudged the best-performing currency in the world.
