18-Member Accelerated Export Development Committee Inaugurated to Boost Ghana’s Trade Competitiveness

President John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated an 18-member Presidential Committee on Accelerated Export Development, aimed at revamping Ghana’s export sector and boosting foreign exchange earnings.

The newly constituted committee, inaugurated on Monday, May 5, includes senior government officials, trade experts, private sector leaders, and representatives from key export-related institutions. President Mahama himself chairs the committee, which also features the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, among other high-profile members.

The Committee is expected to play a critical role in advising the presidency on pragmatic and evidence-based strategies to significantly enhance Ghana’s export competitiveness and earnings, as the country seeks to reduce its import dependence and stabilize the cedi through increased export revenues.

Speaking at the ceremony, Presidential Advisor on the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development, Augustus Goosie Obuadum Tanoh, underscored the committee’s role as a “strategic engine” for economic transformation.

“This Presidential Committee is not symbolic. It is a strategic engine. It brings together business leaders, trade experts, regulators, and sector champions with one mission: to drive Ghana’s export transformation by providing strategic, practical, and evidence-based advice to the President,” he stated.

Members of the Committee include:
