Players, clubs to get five-year ban for double registration – GFA warns

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that players and clubs that are found guilty of double registration will be handed a five-year ban.

In a statement, the GFA said that it had painstakingly worked on creating a “solid database” of players, clubs, and officials over the last few years and had trained clubs on the right processes to follow in player registration.

The GFA said that as a result of this, it “will not tolerate double registration” of any kind and will severely sanction clubs and players that fall foul of the rules.

“Data integrity is very key to the Association and hence the investment into the use of data in all the activities of the Association. It must be noted that apart from compliance with all the requirements of the FIFA data systems, the Ghana Football Association is also registered with the Data Protection Commission of Ghana,” the GFA said in its statement.

The FA warned clubs and players to desist from any act that would result in the integrity of the database it has created being compromised.

“All stakeholders including the clubs, players and officials are again reminded that double registration is an affront on the GFA Regulation and a violation of the regulations that shall not be tolerated by the Association,” the GFA added.
