Premier League: Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag wins Manager of the Month award

Man United manager Erik ten Hag has been rewarded by the Premier League after leading his side through a faultless November.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has won the Premier League’s Manager of the Month award for November.

The Dutchman, who will be looking to guide his side to a second successive win when they face Bournemouth at Old Trafford tomorrow afternoon, led his team to three wins from as many league games last month. United beat Fulham (1-0), Luton Town (1-0) and Everton (3-0).

After ending October with a disappointing 3-0 home defeat to Manchester City in the derby, it was the perfect response from United, who have won six of their last eight Premier League matches. They are currently sixth in the table and will move level on points with fourth-placed Manchester City with a win tomorrow.

Ten Hag was one of four managers originally nominated for the November gong, facing competition from Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, Luton Town chief Rob Edwards and Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe. He was the only member of that quartet to boast a 100 per cent winning record last month.

The former Ajax boss, who was delighted his side’s showing in their 2-1 win over Chelsea on Wednesday night, has now won the award on three separate occasions, previously scooping it in September 2022 and February this year. It is the second time he has won it as a result of registering a 100 per cent winning record in the month the award was designated for.

Ten Hag’s victory for November ends Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou early-season dominance in the race for the award; the Australian won it August, September and October. Spurs, however, have faltered in recent weeks, losing four of their last five games.

Ten Hag has joined the likes of Antonio Conte, Ronald Koeman and Brendan Rodgers in winning the Manager of the Month award on three occasions. One more would move him level with the likes of Jose Mourinho and Mauricio Pochettino on four.
