Premier League: Medeama SC, Hearts of Oak Set for Titanic Clash; Accra Lions Host FC Samartex on Friday

The TnA Stadium will be buzzing on tonight as Medeama SC hope to maintain their unbeaten run at home in the Premier League when they host Hearts of Oak, while Accra Lions host defending champions FC Samartex 1996 to kick start the weekend matches on Friday November 1, 2024.

Medeama SC vs Hearts of Oak – TnA Stadium

The mining town of Tarkwa would literally be on standstill as  Medeama SC face Hearts of Oak at the TnA Stadium in Friday’s top-of-the-bill match day 9 Premier League clash.

The Mauve and Yellow, third in the league table, will be aiming to continue their decent run of form in the top-flight this season. Medeama threw a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Aduana FC in a rescheduled match on Monday and will hope to build on that.

Nebjosa Kapor’s side have accumulated 15 points, having won 4, drawn 3 and lost 1, scored 7 and conceded 5.  Medeama, yet to concede at home are unbeaten at the TnA Stadium.

It’s been a dreadful start to life for Hearts of Oak following 2 wins, 3 draws and 3 defeats.  The Phobians are currently occupying the 12th position in the table after losing 0-1 to Gold stars FC at the capital last Sunday. They’ve scored 4 and conceded 5.

Hearts will be looking to avoid their fourth defeats of the season against a side they’ve really struggled against in the last four meetings away from home.

Medeama SC have played Hearts of Oak four times at home in the league since 2020/21 season with Medeama SC winning three and losing one.

In the 2020/21 season, Medeama SC beat Heats of Oak 1-0, repeated same score line in the 2021/22 season, lost 0-1 in the 2022/23 season and recorded a 2-0 victory in the 2023/24 season.

Accra Lions vs FC Samartex 1996 – University of Ghana Stadium

Accra Lions will hope to return to winning ways when they host FC Samartex 1996 at the University of Ghana Stadium on Friday November 1, 2024.

The performance of the capital side have so far been decidedly mixed (W1, D4 L3). They’ve managed to accumulate 7 points in 8 outings and are currently occupying 16th position in the table, having scored 5 and conceded 7 in the process.

Lions will be keen to record their second win in the campaign after drawing goalless in their previous two consecutive league games.

FC Samartex are heading to the capital on the back of a 1-0 victory against Berekum Chelsea at home last weekend. The defending champions  lie 5th in the league table with 13 points, scored 7 and conceded 4, having won 3, drawn 4 and suffered just a single defeat in 8 games.

The Timber Giants are winless their last 11 consecutive away league games despite their decent form in the league.

Accra Lions have played FC Samartex twice at home in the league since coach Nurudeen Amadu side gained promotion into the Premier League in the 2022/23 season with Accra Lions drawing one and losing one.

In the 2022/23 season, Accra Lions drew 1-1 with FC Samartex and lost 1-3 in the 2023/24 season.
