President Akufo-Addo Confers Grand Medal Award on Ghana Link’s Dr Nick Danso Adjei
Executive Chairman of the trade facilitation company, Ghana Link Network Services Limited, Dr Nick Danso Adjei, has been conferred the Grand Medal Award by President Akufo-Addo at the National Honours and Awards ceremony.
The conferment of the Grand Medal Award is in recognition of the successful implementation of the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS) across the country’s land and sea borders, becoming a crucial revenue-generating tool for the Government and significantly enhancing Ghana’s trade facilitation processes.
ICUMS has revolutionized the trade sector by reducing the complexities of the previous workflow processes and substantially increasing government revenue. This system now effectively connects over 8,000 trade facilitation players daily, streamlining operations at critical points of entry such as seaports, airports, and land borders.
Financial analysts point to the ICUMS as a game-changer in Ghana’s fiscal strategy. The system’s efficiency in streamlining customs procedures and improving revenue collection has been noted as a key factor in bolstering the country’s economic outlook.
The National Honours and Awards ceremony is to celebrate the exceptional contributions and selfless service of individuals to the nation.

The Grand Medal Award is among five distinct awards conferred on distinguished individuals by President Akufo-Addo.
The Grand Medal Award has the National Coat of Arms and the symbol of an elephant, with the symbol of the elephant being used since the institution of the award in 1960.
The Grand Medal Award is silver in colour measuring 33mm in breadth and 38mm in height. It has a ribbon that is 32mm wide with a blue background, 3mm black, 3mm white, and 3mm red stripes in the centre and at the ends respectively.

- The Order of the Star and Eagles of Ghana
- Order of the Star of Ghana
- Order of the Volta
- The Medal for Gallantry
- The Grand Medal
Profile of Dr Nick Danso Adjei
Born in Nkoranza/Bredi, Dr. Danso Adjei’s journey to success began at an early age.
After furthering his education and moving to Spain, he returned to Ghana in 1992 to establish the Royal Nick Hotel in Tema, marking the beginning of his impactful business career in his home country.
Dr. Danso Adjei’s entrepreneurial prowess extends beyond Ghana Link, encompassing ventures such as Royal Nick Hotel, Royal Light, Nick TC Scan (operating in Ghana and Gambia), Misyl Energy BDC, and Nick Petroleum.
These enterprises highlight his commitment to economic growth and development both in Ghana and internationally.
Dr. Danso Adjei’s contributions extend beyond business. He has undertaken several corporate social responsibility projects, including the establishment of an education endowment fund in the Bono East Region.
