President Mahama Pledges to Tackle Youth Unemployment With Targeted Investments
President John Mahama has reiterated his commitment to addressing Ghana’s rising unemployment crisis by prioritizing investments in entrepreneurship, vocational training, and value chain development in agriculture and industry.
Speaking at a National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service in Accra on Sunday, January 12, the President outlined his vision for tackling one of the country’s most pressing challenges.
“Our youth deserve better opportunities, and we are committed to providing them with the tools they need to thrive in life,” President Mahama stated.
He emphasized that his administration’s approach to job creation would be strategic, focusing on equipping young people with the skills necessary to succeed in a competitive global economy.
Ghana’s unemployment rate currently stands at 14%, with over a million young people out of work, highlighting the urgent need for sustainable interventions.
The President also underscored his broader agenda for national transformation. “We are back on a journey to rebuild and reset our nation. The resetting of our nation, Ghana, is anchored on restoring hope and creating opportunities for all,” he said.
President Mahama’s remarks come amid increasing calls for policies that address joblessness among Ghana’s youth, a demographic crucial to the nation’s economic growth and social stability.
By focusing on entrepreneurship and value-added sectors, the government aims to unlock new opportunities and create a resilient economy.
