President Mahama Receives Strong Job Approval – Global InfoAnalytics Poll Reveals
A Special Opinion Poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics has revealed that President John Dramani Mahama enjoys a high approval rating since assuming office. According to the poll, 76% of voters approve of his performance, while 14% disapprove. Meanwhile, 10% of respondents had no opinion.
Regionally, President Mahama’s highest approval rating comes from his home region, Savannah, at 92%, while the Central Region recorded the lowest approval at 64%.
This marks a significant contrast to November 2024, when only 35% of voters approved of the job performance of then-President Nana Akufo-Addo, with 59% expressing disapproval just a month before the 2024 elections.
Ghanaians Believe the Country is on the Right Path
The poll also found that 74% of Ghanaians believe the country is now headed in the right direction, a major shift from November 2024, when only 29% held that view. At that time, 63% of voters believed Ghana was on the wrong track. Currently, only 16% think the country is headed in the wrong direction, while 10% remain undecided.
Regionally, the Savannah Region recorded the highest confidence in the country’s direction, with 92% of voters believing Ghana is on the right path. Conversely, the Ashanti and Eastern Regions had the lowest levels of confidence, with only 59% of voters in each region holding that sentiment.
Notably, these were the same regions where former President Mahama lost to his main opponent, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the 2024 presidential elections.
Survey Overview
The Special Opinion Poll was conducted between January 27 and February 16, 2025, to assess voter sentiments on presidential approval, the country’s direction, living standards, and political party affiliations.
