President Mahama Revokes Edward Koranteng’s Appointment as MIIF CEO
President Mahama has revoked the appointment of Edward Koranteng as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Minerals Income and Investment Fund (MIIF).
Mr Koranteng’s revocation as CEO of the nation’s Sovereign Wealth Fund was contained in a letter by the Office of President dated January 14, 2024, signed by the Executive Secretary to the President, Dr Callistus Mahama.
Mr Koranteng has been directed by the President to hand over his duties to Dr Ato Forson, the Finance Minister-designate, to oversee the operations of MIIF till a substantive CEO is appointed.
The Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) is a sovereign minerals fund mandated by the Minerals Income Investment Fund Act, 978 (as amended) to maximize the value of dividend and royalties income accruing to the Republic of Ghana in a beneficial, accountable and sustainable manner and to monetize Ghana’s mineral wealth in a manner which would bring long term value to the country.
