President Mahama Submits 10 Regional Minister-Nominees to Parliament for Approval

President John Dramani Mahama has submitted a formal request to Parliament seeking approval for the appointment of 10 regional ministers.

This marks a significant step in his administrative restructuring efforts following his assumption of office.

The President has outlined a plan to streamline government operations, reducing the number of ministries from 29 to 23 to enhance efficiency.

As part of this initiative, the list of nominees for regional ministerial positions has been presented to the Speaker of Parliament for approval in accordance with constitutional requirements.

It remains unclear why the ministerial nominees for the six remaining regions have not been finalized. However, during a visit to Bawku, the President provided assurances that appointments for key ministerial and security positions are underway.

Focus on Conflict Resolution in Bawku

The President emphasized his commitment to addressing the conflict in Bawku, stating that leadership for critical portfolios, including the Minister of Defence, Minister of Interior, and National Security Adviser, would be appointed within the week.

“Within this week, we will do the appointment of the Minister of Defence, the Minister of Interior, the National Security Adviser, the National Security Coordinator, the BNI Director, and all the others. When these appointments are made, I am going to charge them to make Bawku one of their number one priorities,” President Mahama stated.

He also called on residents to remain patient and exercise restraint as his administration works towards a sustainable resolution to the ongoing crisis.
