Private Banking & Wealth Management Service a Crucial Offering for FirstBank Ghana’s High-Net-Worth Clients – MD Victor Asante

Managing Director (MD) of FirstBank Ghana, Victor Yaw Asante, has remarked that Private Banking and Wealth Management service is a needed product by its high-net-worth individuals (HNIs) clientele, hence its introduction and addition to the bank’s array of financial offerings.

According to Mr Asante, the bank has decades of expertise and experience to provide the service to its high-net-worth customers.

“There are quite a number of high-net-worth individuals in Ghana looking to invest their wealth in appropriate instruments or protect their wealth from losing value through either depreciation or inflation, and we have the expertise and experience to help them with that.

“This is because FirstBank is 130 years and FirstBank Ghana is almost 30 years and we have been rolling out such products throughout the various markets,” he quipped.

Adding that, the bank already has customers who have shown interest in the bank’s Private Banking & Wealth Management service, and the bank is currently focused on making the service available to its customers.

He made the assertion speaking at the introduction of the Private Banking & Wealth Management Service to its customers on Friday, March 14, 2025.

Touching on plans by bank to capture a sizable share of the Private Banking and Wealth Management service market, the MD/CEO of FirstBank noted that, the bank is for now, focused on providing the service to its customers that need them and that the bank will in near-term look at gaining more in terms of market share size.

“We will play to our strengths and basically focus on what we can offer to our customers and then we take it from there. So it’s not so much about gaining market share and overtaking any particular bank as a primary objective, for now it’s just about providing the service that some of our customers require,” he remarked.

FirstBank Ghana is set to launch its Private Banking & Wealth Management service in line with plans to meet the increasing demands and preferences of its high-net-worth individuals (HNIs) and, in the process, expand the Bank’s offerings to the Ghana market.

The introduction of the Private Banking and Wealth Management (PB&WM) service marks a significant milestone for FirstBank as it continues to deepen its commitment to offering extensive banking services at international standards in Ghana.

FirstBank’s Private Banking and Wealth Management proposition is a one-stop shop for convenient banking, supported by the Bank’s robust Information Technology (IT) infrastructure and a team of well-trained, service-oriented personnel.

Private Banking is a service offered by banks and other financial institutions to HNIs. It typically involves providing tailor-made services such as Investment advice and Financial Planning.

Wealth Management, on the other hand, is a holistic approach to managing a client’s financial needs and goals, addressing the client’s overall financial situation.

FirstBank’s offering will comprise a comprehensive suite of products and services tailored to the specific requirements of each client with the aim to deliver discounted pricing and exclusive access to financial products and services. It also includes access to a dedicated banker or team of bankers, personalized investment advising, and financial planning.
