FC Samartex 1996, Nsoatreman FC Secure Historic Wins In Debut CAF Interclub Campaign

FC Samartex 1996 and Nsoatreman FC etched their names into the history books as they earned hard fought wins over Victoria United and Elect Sports.

The GPL champions made a significant statement in their maiden CAF Champions League campaign by recording a historic 1-0 victory over Cameroonian champions Victoria United in the first leg of the preliminary round.

The match, held in Cameroon, saw the Ghana Premier League champions assert their dominance in a tightly contested affair after a goalless first half.

The deadlock was finally broken early in the second half when Emmanuel Mamah found the back of the net, outjumping his markers to score the only goal of the game from a corner kick.

Mamah’s crucial strike not only gave Samartex the lead but also ensured that the Ghanaian side left Cameroon with a vital away victory.

This win marks a monumental moment for FC Samartex 1996, as it is their first-ever match in the CAF Champions League, having secured their place in the competition by winning the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.

The victory in Cameroon provides a significant boost to the team’s morale as they prepare for the return leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on August 25, 2024.

Nsoatreman FC on the other hand marked their debut in the CAF Confederation Cup in grand style with a commanding 3-0 victory over Chadian side Elect Sports.

The Ghanaian FA Cup champions delivered a scintillating performance at the Accra Sports Stadium, scoring all three goals in a dominant first-half display.

Mohammed Abdul Rahman was the star of the match, netting a brace within six minutes. His first goal came on the 30th minute, followed by another clinical finish in the 36th minute.

Sandwiched between Rahman’s goals was a well-taken strike by Kwabena Meider in the 34th minute, effectively sealing the win for Nsoatreman FC.

This emphatic victory not only reflects the team’s determination but also serves as a significant boost as they prepare for the second leg.

With a three-goal advantage, Nsoatreman FC heads to the Ahmadou Ahidjoe Stadium in Yaoundé, Cameroon, for the return fixture on August 24, 2024, with high hopes of advancing further in the competition.

The win in their maiden CAF Confederation Cup match has energised the team and their supporters, setting a positive tone for what promises to be an exciting campaign.
