West Ham move was a bigger step – Mohammed Kudus

Mohammed Kudus has described his transfer from Ajax Amsterdam to West Ham United in the Premier League as a ‘bigger step’.

The Black Stars player switched camps from the Netherlands to join the Hammers on a five-year deal for a fee of €43million (£36.9million).

Prior to his move, the former FC Nordsjaelland star had made the headlines severally with the Dutch giants scoring tons of goals to buttress his impressive performances.

“It was a bigger step from Amsterdam [to the Premier League], but I know what it takes to play at this level and before I made the decision to come here I knew my capabilities and what I can do,” he told West Ham United’s official website.

Before completing the move to West Ham United, the 23-year-old was linked to top clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Brighton and Hove Albion underscoring his remarkable qualities.

“It was a challenge I wanted to take on. Hopefully, now I can help the team start winning again, and we can push on into the last bit of the season.”

The West Ham forward has amassed a total of 10 goals in all competitions since joining in the summer and has fast risen to be a fan favourite in London.

Meanwhile, the team is currently enduring hard times having failed to secure a win in their last eight games.

Mohammed Kudus is optimistic the team will turn the tide in upcoming matches and is poised to help the team achieve the desired resurgence.

We’re going through a difficult spell but everyone is trying. We are not giving up – we are still trying to make it happen, taking players on and creating chances. That’s the most important thing for me – as long as you’re trying to change the situation then it will improve.

“My goals are to help the team as much as I can and win games and get points. We are in Europe now and want to make an impact as we won it last year, while we also want to challenge the top six teams in the league.

“Yes, 100% [we can win the UEFA Europa League]. We won the UEFA Europa Conference League last year, so we have the same mentality and approach every single game the same. It’s very possible.”

West Ham will host Brentford at the London Stadium on Monday night as they embark on a mission to bounce back.
