Ramadan: GCB Bank donates to National Chief Imam

GCB Bank PLC has donated some food items to the office of the National Chief Imam to help in the breaking of the fast during this Ramadan period.

The items included 20 bags of rice, 15 bags of sugar, 15 gallons of oil, 40 packs of dates, two large bags of beans, 100 packs of bottled water and a cash amount of GH₵100,000.

The Bank’s Managing Director, Kofi Adomako, who donated said the gesture goes beyond their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) which is playing an integral role in national development.

“In the holy month of Ramadan, we find it very necessary to break bread with our Muslim brothers and to support the Chief Imam.

“Every year, we come here to come and thank Allah and ask for Allah’s blessing. We pray with the Chief Imam and also do what we have to do to support him and support the many Islam followers,” he said on Friday.

Mr. Adomakoh emphasised that the staff of GCB encompasses individuals from diverse religious backgrounds, including Islam.

He highlighted the significance for Muslims to seize the fasting period as an opportunity for reflection on past experiences and to envision the future, guided by the teachings of Prophet Mohammed.

Assuring ongoing support, Mr. Adomakoh pledged the bank’s unwavering assistance to the Chief Imam throughout and beyond the fasting month.

Furthermore, he humbly requested the Chief Imam’s prayers, seeking Allah’s divine intervention in the appointment of a capable leader to effectively lead the company in fulfilling its mission.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Chief Imam, Ambassador Lit. Col. Umar Sanda Ahmed (rtd) expressed gratitude for the gesture and asked for Allah’s blessing for the bank.

He also commended the bank for playing an integral role in national development and encouraged the bank to keep on seeking the interest of Ghanaians.
