Republic Bank signs MoU with AMA

Republic Bank Ghana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) and the Korle Klotey Municipal Assembly (KoKMA) for the beautification of the African Union (AU) Square.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Managing Director of Republic Bank, Farid Antar, expressed his excitement about the partnership and most importantly, Republic Bank’s involvement in the Beautification of Accra project championed by the AMA.

He assured the parties of the Bank’s commitment to the maintenance of the AU square which is currently situated opposite the Bank’s flagship building – Republic Court.

According to Mr Antar, the adoption of the AU Square is in line with the Bank’s CSR strategy of supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on Climate Action (SDG 13).

“As a Bank from the Trinidad and Tobago, a country birthed during the transatlantic slave trade, we take pride in our African lineage. We are therefore happy to be associated with the AU Square, a symbol of African Unity, a reminder of who we are as Africans and a beacon of Hope for Africa and our descendants” Mr. Antar added.

In his brief remarks, Mayor of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Hon. Mohammed Adjei Sowah, thanked Republic Bank for the gesture in supporting the Assembly’s Accra Beautification Project.

According to him, the signing of the MOU is a remarkable progress in the Assembly’s vision of seeing Accra as the most beautiful and cleanest city in Africa. He took the opportunity to encourage other corporate organizations to come onboard.

Present at the signing event were; the Chief Operating Officer, Republic Bank, Mr. Benjamin Dzoboku, the Municipal Chief Executive of Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly, Hon. Samuel James Adjei Tawiah, CEO of Mullen Lowe, Mrs. Norkor Duah, Director of Parks and Gardens, Reverend Okine and Head of International Relations, Special Projects, AMA, Jennifer Brockes.
