Royal Ladies Ministry Marks 30th Anniversary With Childhood Cancer Project

Royal Ladies Ministry, the women’s wing of Royalhouse Chapel International, has marked the celebration of its 30th Anniversary with the Childhood Cancer project at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH).

The support to children living with cancer forms part of the celebrations for the anniversary themed, “Three Decades of Empowering Women and Transforming Lives.”

Royal Ladies Ministry donated GH¢100,000.00 to the Pediatric Oncology Unit of the hospital. They also donated Bibles, food, cash gifts and other items to the parents of the patients at the unit.

Speaking at the event, First Lady of Royalhouse Chapel International and President General of the Royal Ladies Ministry, Rev. Mrs. Rita Korankye-Ankrah, expressed her joy in seeing the “RL3D Childhood Cancer Project,” which was an important activity on the celebration calendar, being fulfilled.

She said, “every year, as a group within Royalhouse Chapel, we do donations across the nation and this year we chose the childhood cancer project. We decided that we won’t sit in our comfort zones, enjoy and leave the babies and young children with cancer, so as part of our 30th anniversary we came to celebrate with the babies who out of no fault of theirs, are living with cancer.”

She explained that in as much as the donation to the unit is important, a sustained fund is needed to aid in buying medications to help the children beat cancer.

Mrs. Rita Korankye-Ankrah affectionately called Mama Rita, expressed her appreciation to the Apostle General, Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah and the church for supporting a worthy cause.

Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KBTH, Dr. Frank Owusu Sekyere expressed his appreciation to the women and urged other institutions and groups to emulate their kind gesture which would go a long way to support the unit.

He said, “it is always a delight when people think about children. We can’t do it all when it comes to health; it must be a shared responsibility. I think it is a very laudable idea, and we will want other corporate and social groups to emulate this kind gesture.”

Madam Kate Baidoo, who has a 5 year old son at the ward, thanked the group for their kind gesture.

Paediatric Oncologist, Dr. Ernestina Schandorf, expressed appreciation to the Royal Ladies Ministry on behalf of the oncology unit, parents and their children. She assured the group that the items received would be used by the hospital to help in the treatment of the children.
