Seasoned Sports Journalist Yaw Ampofo Ankrah Takes Helm as Director General of National Sports Authority
Ghanaian sports broadcasting icon Yaw Ampofo Ankrah has officially been appointed as the new Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), succeeding Seth Panwum in the role. With an illustrious career that includes stints at renowned media outlets like the BBC, SuperSport, and Metro TV, Ampofo Ankrah is well-respected in the field of sports journalism and currently serves as the Head of Sports at MAX FM.
In his new position, he will collaborate closely with the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, to enhance the organization, promotion, and development of both professional and recreational sports in Ghana. His responsibilities will encompass fostering national unity through sports, promoting health and fitness initiatives, and ensuring the effective management of sports facilities for long-term sustainability.
Stakeholders in the sports community have expressed optimism that Ampofo Ankrah’s leadership will usher in a new era of innovation and progress within the NSA.
Beyond his broadcasting career, he has been a significant figure in Ghana’s beach soccer scene, currently serving as President of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association.
