Seven Justices Tipped for Supreme Court Elevation as President Mahama Submits Nominees
President John Dramani Mahama has nominated seven Justices of the Court of Appeal for possible elevation to the Supreme Court, in what legal observers say could significantly reshape the composition of Ghana’s apex judicial body.
The nominations, which include some of the judiciary’s most seasoned and respected members, are to be considered by the Judicial Council before formal submission to Parliament for approval in line with constitutional procedures.
The nominees are:
Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei
Justice Gbiel Simon Suurbaareh
Justice Senyo Dzamefe
Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo
Justice Philip Bright Mensah
Justice Janapare Bartels-Kodwo
Justice Hafisata Amaleboba
The nomination comes at a time of heightened national attention on the judiciary’s role in safeguarding constitutional governance and the administration of justice.
