CitizenApp to Cut Bureaucracy in GRA Operations

The Deputy Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Ms Julie Essiam, has stated that the introduction of the CitizenApp will significantly reduce bureaucracy, shorten waiting times and empower citizens with vital information and services.

Ms Essiam said this at the launch of CitizenApp in Accra on Monday.

She noted that clearing goods at the port would be easy as it is in some of the world’s most advanced countries.

Ms Essiam added that filing taxes would become as easy as tapping a few buttons on your phone, with the necessary data being pulled from multiple agencies. This means businesses won’t have to chase down forms or visit various offices.

She stated that, “We are entering a future where citizens will no longer be burdened by paperwork, bureaucratic delays, or endless frustration. Instead, we will have a system that works for us, one built on convenience, efficiency, and accessibility.”

Ms Essiam noted that CitizenApp is more than just a system; it is a promise to the people of Ghana that the government will continue to leverage technology to improve their lives.
