Shock and Disarray: Kotoko’s U.S. Tour Turned Upside Down as Two Players Abscond

Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club is facing an unexpected predicament as two of its players have reportedly absconded from the team’s camp in the United States.

The club confirmed the disappearance of defender Esmat Abdulhamid Mohamed Al Hasan and forward AbdoelKarem AbdoelRahman Yoouef Yagoub in a recent statement.

Both Sudanese players were part of the squad that traveled to the Washington DC area for the Capital City Africa Cup against Major League Soccer side DC United. However, their whereabouts are currently unknown.

In light of the situation, Asante Kotoko has contacted the appropriate authorities to assist in locating the players and facilitating their return to Ghana. The club is scheduled to fly back home on Sunday, October 13, further complicating the ongoing situation.

The team’s trip to the United States has already been marred by difficulties, particularly regarding visa issues. Several players were denied travel visas by the US Embassy in Ghana, forcing Kotoko to consider fielding a team with players from Medeama SC to honor the match. Ultimately, the club opted to withdraw from the competition altogether, a decision announced on Friday, October 11.

As Kotoko navigates this challenging moment, the focus remains on resolving the situation with the missing players while ensuring a safe return to Ghana for the rest of the team.
