SIC and Enterprise post share price gains of 50% on local bourse

Stocks of SIC Insurance Company (SIC) and Enterprise Group Limited (EGL) at the close of last week’s trading recorded 50% increment in share prices.

SIC led gainers on the local bourse with a 40% increment in stock price representing a year-to-date gain of 75% for the equity.

For EGL, its stock posted a 10% increase in its stock price recording a year-to-date gain of 18.28% for the equity.

The benchmark GSE-CI on the back of the share price gains in SIC and EGL posted gains of 1.36 points to close the week at 2,644.47 points translating into a year-to-date return of -3.40% for traders.

The GSE-FSI also gained 2.46 points to close the week at 2,115.36 points translating into a year-to-date return of -1.70% for traders.

The gains in the GSE-FSI was moderated by losses in share prices of CAL Bank and Access Bank.

The two financial stocks recorded losses of -3.53% and -7.73% respectively.

Market value of the stick market therefore reduced by GHS 479m to close the trading week at GHS 62.86 billion.

A total of 8.2 million shares valued at GH¢2.95 million traded during  the week compared to 4.7 million shares valued at GH¢3.92 million  which traded the previous week. 

SIC Insurance Company Ltd. (SIC) recorded the most trades per  value over the week as it accounted for 28.30% of the total value traded on the stock market.
