SIC, MTN, TBL and CAL Bank emerge gainers on the local bourse

SIC Insurance Ltd. (SIC) led equities on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) with a 14.29 percent increase in its share price for last week.

The equity began trading on Friday, March 4, 2022, with an open share price of GHS 0.14 pesewas and ended the trading session with a closing price of GHS 0.16 pesewas, representing the 14.29 percent price increase recorded.

The equity, since the beginning of the year till date, has recorded 100 percentage points change in its share price.

Following SIC as the second-highest gainer on the local bourse was the Trust Bank limited [TBL] with a price change of 5.26%.

In the third and fourth place were CAL Bank and MTN Ghana with share price change of 3.66 percent and 2.86 percent respectively.

Financial institution Access Bank, was the only decliner on the local bourse for last week.

Meanwhile, Scancom PLC. (MTNGH) recorded the most trades per value over  the week as it accounted for 93.94% of the total value traded.

A total of 43.8million shares valued at GHS 45.4million traded during  the week compared to 8.2 million shares valued at GHS 2.9 million  which traded the previous week. 

The benchmark GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) at the close of the  week gained 36.12 points to close at 2,730.59 translating into a YTD  return of -2.11%.

The GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) also gained  1.62 points to close the week at 2,116.98 translating into a YTD return  of -1.62%.

Market capitalization recorded a drop of GHS 378.08 million to close  the trading week at GHS 63.24 billion.
