Speaker Bagbin Suspends Four MPs Over Chaos at Vetting Committee Session
The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has announced disciplinary measures in response to the chaos that erupted during Thursday’s Appointments Committee session.
The heated confrontation between members of the Minority and Majority led to the destruction of tables and microphones, forcing police intervention to restore order.
Addressing Members of Parliament on Friday, January 31, 2025, Speaker Bagbin condemned the disorderly conduct and ruled that four MPs involved in the altercation would be suspended for two weeks.
The affected MPs are:
- Rockson Nelson-Dafeamekpor, Majority Chief Whip
- Frank Annor Dompreh, Minority Chief Whip
- Jerry Ahmed, Second Deputy Whip
- Hassan Tampuli, MP for Gushegu
