SSNIT Disburses GHS 510.21 Million in Pensions for January 2025

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has announced a disbursement of GH₵510.21 million in pensions to 253,601 retirees for January 2025.

The payment, made on January 16, 2025, underscores SSNIT’s commitment to providing reliable and timely financial support to pensioners across Ghana.

Annual Pension Indexation Boosts Payments

This month’s disbursement represents a 12% increase in monthly pension payouts, implemented under SSNIT’s annual indexation process for 2025.

The adjustment, conducted in consultation with the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA), aligns with Section 80 of the National Pensions Act, 2008 (Act 766).

The January 2025 payout marks a notable increase from GH₵454.05 million disbursed in December 2024 to 252,766 pensioners.

During that period, the highest pension under PNDC Law 247 was GH₵186,777.58, while the lowest was GH₵409.10. Under Act 766, the highest and lowest pensions were GH₵26,506.66 and GH₵300, respectively.

SSNIT Urges Full Earnings Declaration

SSNIT has reiterated its call for workers to secure their retirement by insuring their full earnings with the Trust. This step, the organization emphasizes, ensures access to a lifetime pension upon retirement.

Upcoming Payments

The next pension disbursement is scheduled for February 20, 2025, as SSNIT continues its efforts to maintain financial stability for pensioners across the country.

By maintaining transparency and timely payments, SSNIT is demonstrating its central role in Ghana’s social security framework, supporting the livelihoods of retirees and promoting compliance with national pension laws.
