Starlink Announces Rental Plans For Its Starlink Kit in Kenya

Starlink, the popular satellite internet provider from SpaceX, has announced rental plans for Starlink kits in Kenya.

Details

Customers interested in getting Starlink kits will be able to rent them on a monthly basis. Customers will pay a one-time activation fee of KSh 2,700 and will be charged KSh 1,950 as a monthly hardware rental fee.

Subsequently, subscribers will then pay monthly service plans priced at KSh 1,300 per month.

Why This Matters

Starlink entered the Kenya market in 2023 with its kits priced at Ksh 89,000 for purchase. Adoption has been slow but it’s has been reported that Starlink had approximately 4,808 users in March 2024.

The rental option is expected to broaden access to kits.
