“Stay with Ghana” – Dr Ishmael Yamson urges businesses amid economic challenges

Chairman of Ishmael Yamson & Associates, Dr Ishmael Yamson, has urged businesses in the country to continue to do business in Ghana despite the harsh prevailing business environment.

Speaking at the 5th edition of the Ghana Business Awards on Saturday, October 29, 2022, Dr Yamson who has 56 years experience in the corporate world, noted that no matter the difficulties businesses go through in the country, businesses always bounce back stronger and better.

“I have been in the corporate world for 56 years, and one advice I have for entrepreneurs is this, ‘stay with Ghana’. It doesn’t matter what you go through, it doesn’t matter the difficulties we face, we always pull out.

“In recent months and days, I have seen many business people almost give up and they have a good reason for feeling that way. But I know this country is strong, as a people who stay together, we shall prosper. We never fail and never give up,” he remarked.

Dr Ishmael Yamson, at the 5th edition of the Ghana Business Awards, was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Also speaking at the event, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Mark Okraku Martey, noted that the Ghanaian economy, amid the prevailing macroeconomic challenges needs businesses in the country to bounce back.

“Government acknowledges the challenges we have now as a country, we have not been spared in the global economic challenges. This is the time we need the industry more, your innovations and collaborations, so we can bounce back together,” he noted.

The Ghana Business Awards is a prestigious awards programme that recognises and rewards excellence across all sectors in the country.

The Awards provides a platform to recognize individuals and companies that play a significant role in the growth and development of their business sector while recognising the key functions within the sector that promote growth and sustainability.

The event seeks to celebrate achievement, innovation and brilliance within the business environment of Ghana.
