Stock market ends week with 2 gainers and 1 decliner

The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) ended last week with a gain of 1.21 points to close trading at 2,461.33 points.

The recorded gains translates into a year-to-date (YTD) returns of -11.76%.

The GSE Financial Stock also lost 0.34 points to close the week at 2,069.76 points translating into a YTD returns of -3.81%.

The recorded gain in the benchmark GSE-CI and loss in the GSE-FSI was due to the simultaneous gain and loss in three equities on the local bourse.

GLD and BOPP emerged the gainers on the stock market posting GHS 10.20 and GHS 0.42 increment in share prices respectively.

BOPP with the GHS 10.20 share price increment ended Friday’s trading session with a closing price of GHS 176.70 from an opening price of GHS 166.50.

GLD with a GHS 0.42 increment in share price, ended Friday’s trading session with a closing price of GHS 6.90 from an opening price of GHS 6.48.

The equity that recorded a loss in its share price and as such emerged the decliner on the local bourse was SIC, the equity lost 1 pesewas in share price.

Market capitalization of the GSE increased by GHS 472.24 million to close the trading week at GHS 64.46 billion. 

A total of 4,443,096 shares valued at GH¢30,079,436.97 were traded during the week.

Compared with the previous trading week, this week’s data shows an86.13% decrease in volume traded and a 2.32% decrease in trade turnover.

Scancom PLC. (MTNGH) emerged the most traded stock  at the close of trading session, accounting for 82.05% of overall trade  volume, whilst NewGold (GLD) accounted for 87.17% of the total value  traded.
