Stock market posts YTD returns of -8.97% on Wednesday

Benchmark index (GSE-Composite Index) of the Accra bourse fell 1.27 points to close trading at 2,539.21 points  representing a YTD return of -8.97% on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.

The GSE Financial Stock Index  (GSE-FSI) also lost 2.80 points to close trading at 2,046.56 points  translating into a YTD return of -4.89%. 

Eight (8) equities traded, ending with two (2) gainers and decliners each. GLD and BOPP gained GH¢1.31 and GH¢0.34 to close trading at GH¢171.51 and GH¢6.34 respectively.

EGH and TOTAL on the other hand lost GH¢0.05 and GH¢0.08 to close trading at GH¢6.80 and  GH¢4.00 respectively.

Market capitalization of the stock market settled at GH¢64.42 billion at the end of trading activities on Wednesday.

A total of 244,201 shares valued at GH¢35,774,907.25 was traded on Wednesday. Compared with the previous GSE trading day (August 16), Wednesday’s data shows a 36.50% drop in volume traded and a 12953.04% rise in trade turnover.

New Gold (GLD) accounted for 99.52% of the total value  traded and recorded the largest volume traded.
