Stock market slips 47.41 points on Tuesday to close at 2,485.63 points

The benchmark index (GSE-Composite Index) of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) was lower at close of trading session on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecommunication and Banking sectors led the index lower. 

At the close in Accra, the GSE-CI fell 47.41 points to close trading at 2,485.63 points representing a YTD return of -10.89%.

The GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) also lost 0.56 points to close trading at 2,034.82 points translating into a YTD return of -5.44%. 

Seven (7) equities traded ending with two (2) decliners. The worst performers  of the session on the GSE-CI were Scancom PLC. (MTNGH) and Ecobank Ghana PLC (EGH).

MTNGH lost GH¢0.04 to close at GH¢0.91 whilst EGH  declined by GH¢0.01 to close at GH¢6.79. Market capitalization for the day settled at GH¢64.43bn.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,087,341 shares valued at GH¢1,156,204.85 was traded on the day.

Compared with the previous GSE trading day (August 22), Tuesday’s data shows a 5942.80% improvement in volume traded as well as a 5847.92% improvement in trade turnover.

MTNGH accounted for 73.47% of the total value traded and  also recorded the largest volumes traded.
