Messi Excited for FIFA Club World Cup, Says It’s “An Amazing Opportunity” for Inter Miami

Lionel Messi is gearing up for the highly anticipated FIFA Club World Cup, expressing his enthusiasm for the tournament as Inter Miami prepares to kick off against Al Ahly FC on June 14 at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.

The iconic Argentine forward, who has already won the UEFA Champions League, Copa America, and FIFA World Cup, sees the new 32-team format as a thrilling chance to add another trophy to his illustrious career. “It’s an interesting competition. Having the chance to be part of it is exciting,” Messi told FIFA.

Messi’s expectations for this tournament differ from those he held during his time with other clubs. He is eager to compete against the best teams in the world, stating, “I’m looking forward to competing against the best and doing well.”

Since joining Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2023, Messi has made a significant impact, leading Inter Miami to a league-record 74 points and securing the MLS Supporters’ Shield, which qualified the team for the Club World Cup.

The tournament will not only showcase top clubs from South America and Europe but also promises to attract American football fans. Messi believes the global appeal of the event will draw significant attention, saying, “There are huge teams coming from all over the world, and that moves a lot of people everywhere.”

He emphasized the importance of the tournament, noting, “It’s a great opportunity to watch the best players play out here in the United States, and it’s an amazing opportunity to do this.”
