FIFA appoints VAR officials for Ghana-Nigeria 2022 World Cup playoff clash
FIFA has appointed VAR officials for the 2022 African World Cup qualifiers playoff tie between Ghana and Nigeria.
According to new changes made by the world football’s governing body, the Video Assistant Referee will be used for both games in Cape Coast and Abuja with everything at stake for a place in Qatar this year.
The first leg which is scheduled for Friday March 25 2022 in Ghana will see Bernie Raymond Blom from The Netherlands controlling affairs as the Video Assistant Referee and will be assisted by compatriot Rob Dieperink also from the Netherlands, while Athanse Nkubito from Rwanda will be the referee assessor.

The return leg in Abuja, Nigeria will see Frenchmen Jérôme Brisard and Willy Louis Delajod also take charge as Video Assistant Referees.
During the group qualifiers, a lot of bad calls were made with teams having to pay the price and so FIFA has introduced VAR for the final round of qualifiers to ensure fair officiating.
The initiative will run through the other play off matches which will decide which nations represent Africa at the global showpiece.
