Freshluk eye centre offer free eye screening to mark International Day of the Girl Child

Freshluk Eye Center, a licensed Optometry Clinic in Ghana has marked this Years International Day of the Girl Child with teenage girls in Ayawaso Central Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The Centre collaborated with an NGO, Inspire Today, and conducted a free eye screening for about 2,000 girls in twelve selected schools within that municipality.

Girls from beneficiary schools (Kotobabi Basic 3, Kotobabi 2 J.H.S, Kotobabi primary 1 and 2, Kotobabi 5, J.H.S, Kotobabi 7 J.H.S, Kotobabi 11, Kotobabi 4 J.HS, Abavaana J.H.S, Pigfarm Basic, Abavaana Down Basic,KPPS) apart from the eye screening were given free medical education on how to keep the eye protected.

Freshluk is managed by licensed Optometrists and professional Optical Assistants with considerable experience in the eye care industry.

Its CEO, Harrison Odame Nyanteh, says the company is committed to serving the optical needs of its cherished clients with precision in knowledge and timely delivery of optical aids.

“We have partnered with Inspire Today because our Corporate Social Responsibilities aligns with what Inspire Today is doing for girls in deprived communities. We believe that the future is female and we must invest in our girls and for us at Freshluk, the best way is to ensure that our girls have good eyesight. We came to screen these girls in order to give early treatment to any abnormality we might discover during the screening. We are grateful to Inspire Today for this great project, it is a beautiful way to give back to our communities”.

Founder and Executive Director for Inspire Today, Etornam Sey, expressed gratitude to Freshluk for helping keep the girls in schools by investing in their education.

“Sight is one of the most significant physical senses and functions of the eye. It helps us to admire our complete world. Our eyes Improves brain focus as what we see is something that we will keep in our memory. Eyes are used to understand the surrounding and that means that a dysfunctioning eyes will have a grave impact on the childs ability to read, learn and understand what is being thought in class. We are therefore grateful to freshluk eye center for their consistency in rendering support each time we call them”.

The International Day of the Girl, which is observed annually on 11th October, is a global platform to advocate for the full spectrum of girls’ rights. This year’s theme is “Invest In Girls Rights; our leadership, our well-being’.  This is helping to respond to girls’ calls for change, and ensuring that the global community move beyond reaffirming commitments and invest boldly in the action needed to make that change.
