Tarkwa Nsuaem Takes Charge of TnA Stadium Amid Maintenance Concerns
In a bold move to keep the TnA Stadium in proper shape, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tarkwa Nsuaem, Benjamin Kesse, has announced that the municipal assembly has taken control of the facility from the National Sports Authority (NSA). This decision comes in the wake of serious complaints regarding the stadium’s upkeep, particularly as it prepares to host the new Ghana Premier League season.
Kesse expressed his frustration over the alleged neglect, stating that the NSA has failed to implement adequate maintenance plans since the stadium’s commissioning. “Things are not working. If you attend a program at the stadium, you’ll notice that the washrooms have been in a deplorable state for the past month,” he told 3Sports in a recent interview. “We cannot sit idly by and watch the stadium deteriorate like others have.”
In response to these issues, Kesse has established a dedicated committee to oversee the stadium’s maintenance, which is being led by James Essilfie, the former CEO of Medeama SC. The committee’s primary goal is to ensure that the stadium, which serves as the home ground for the former champions, meets the necessary standards for players and fans alike.
The urgency of this situation is underscored by recent developments in Ghanaian football, as the NSA has temporarily closed other major stadiums, including the Accra Sports Stadium and Baba Yara Stadium, for maintenance work.
This follows directives from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to find an alternative venue for the Black Stars’ upcoming match.
With the municipal assembly now at the helm, Tarkwa Nsuaem is determined to maintain the TnA Stadium and ensure it becomes a source of pride for the community and a fitting venue for top-level football in Ghana.
