‘They Never Let Us Down’ – Otto Addo Hails Kumasi Fans Ahead of Angola Showdown

Ghana coach Otto Addo is pleased with the positive energy of fans in Kumasi and is hoping to see more as the Black Stars take on Angola in their opening 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

The Baba Yara Stadium has served as the home venue of the Black Stars in recent years and with positive results dominating, the fans have been credited for their massive support during such crucial games. The Black Stars have yet to taste defeat at the venue since 2000 (24 years) and are aiming to extend the record.

Otto Addo himself has enjoyed some good results at the venue including a goalless draw against Nigeria in the first leg of the 2022 World Cup qualification playoffs during his initial spell with the team.

The fans also rallied the four-time champions to a 4-3 victory in the team’s last game in June against the Central African Republic to climb up in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

“Yeah, to be honest, I’m not concerned. Kumasi fans in my time never let us down. The last game we were 2-1 behind against Central African Republic and they supported us all the way. So, I don’t worry, they are always supportive, they help us and really we will need them tomorrow,” Otto Addo stated confidently ahead of the game.

“They could suggest for me, keep it up what they are doing and it’s very, very helpful. They are like our 12th player and we love to play in Kumasi.
