Ghana.gov platform earns Government GHS 210bn in revenue

Minister of Communication and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has revealed that the Ghana.gov platform, has facilitated the collection of over GHS 210 billion in government revenue since its inception in 2020.

According to her, the substantial amount collected through the platform underscored the platform’s pivotal role in streamlining financial transactions, enhancing transparency, and bolstering the nation’s fiscal integrity.

“This is a totally new system that was built with functionalities that e-services didn’t even think of providing and so it’s been possible for it to generate amount of revenue within the three years of its operation, GHC210 billion plus,” she remarked in an interview on Monday.

The Minister noted that as a result of the user-friendly interface and comprehensive array of online functionalities provided by the platform, it had become the cornerstone of the country’s digital transformation journey with 1,507 institutions currently on-boarded onto it.

The success story of the Ghana.gov platform as noted by the Minister, resonates as a testament to the burgeoning confidence of citizens and businesses in digital government platforms, emblematic of a paradigm shift towards digital-first governance.

The remarkable milestone achieved by Ghana.gov not only reflects its instrumental role in driving financial digitization but also underscores Ghana’s commitment to harnessing digital technologies for inclusive development.
