Top 10 African Countries With the Highest Cost of Diesel in November 2024

The pricing disparities in energy across Africa are frequently determined by a government’s capacity to successfully handle the difficulties present in its energy sector.

Given how largely Africa’s economy depends on fossil fuels, diesel is essential to the operation of important industries including manufacturing, transportation, and agriculture.

Diesel’s status as the primary energy source for several businesses around the continent has been further solidified by the slow shift to cleaner energy sources.

Rising diesel prices typically impedes economic growth on the continent via the increase of operational expenses in vital industries such as agriculture, industrial output, and construction.

When diesel prices rise, many businesses in Africa face greater manufacturing costs, which can lead to inflationary pressures.

These expenses are often passed on to customers, which leads to higher burdens for households.

With that said, below are the top 10 African countries with the highest diesel prices as of 18th of November 2024, according to GlobalPetrolPrices.com.

The global average diesel price currently is 1.17 U.S. dollars per liter, compared to 1.18 U.S. dollars per liter in October.

With the drop in the global average price of diesel, Central Africa Republic, Seychelles, Mozambique, Togo, Mauritius, and Guinea all saw a slight decline in their diesel prices this month compared to October.

The price of diesel in Zimbabwe increased, while prices in Malawi and Sierra Leone remained the same.

Burundi is a new entry on the list for this month, ousting Uganda from 10th place last month.
