Top 10 African Countries With the Lowest Fuel Prices in September 2024

In contrast to many African countries, which face high gasoline costs, select nations are able to sustain relatively cheap fuel prices due to a variety of variables and situations. These factors are frequently impacted by access to natural resources, government policy, and infrastructure.

In some countries, fuel prices are tightly compressed by the government to avoid social unrest and economic instability. This could be in the form of fuel subsidies or well-developed refining capacities.

Additionally, a few African countries are fuel producing countries, allowing them to negotiate better deals in selling their crude for cheaper refined products.

Outside of this, some of these oil producing nations have a very robust and standard refining capacity, which allows them to refine their own crude and sell for as cheap as possible.

With that said, these are the ten African countries with the lowest current fuel costs, according to GlobalPetrolPrices.com.

The global average fuel price is currently 1.29 U.S per liter compared to 1.32 U.S. per liter last month.

Fuel prices for Egypt, Angola, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Liberia reduced in September, compared to August, while fuel prices for Algeria, and Tunisia experienced a slight increase.

Fuel prices for Libya and Sudan remained the same, while Ghana replaced Gabon on the current list.
