Trade Values and Volumes on GSE Surge by 2,915% and 1,743% as Investor Confidence Rises

The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) Composite Index gained 54.18 points, closing at 4,999.72 points, with a year-to-date (YTD) return of 2.27%.

The GSE Financial Stock Index also edged higher by 1.20 points to 2,387.16 points, recording a YTD return of 0.27%.

The market capitalization rose to GH¢112.95 billion, an increase of GH¢672.86 million from the previous session.

Trade activity on the GSE experienced a significant boost, with the volume of shares traded soaring by 1,743.31% to 1,777,340 shares compared to the prior session’s 96,421 shares.

The total value of trades climbed sharply by 2,915.02%, reaching GH¢4,800,890.54, up from GH¢145,302.30.

Among individual equities, MTNGH gained GH¢0.05, closing at GH¢2.60, while GCB also rose by GH¢0.05 to close at GH¢6.41. MTNGH led the market in trade volumes, with 1,645,647 shares exchanged at a value of GH¢4,271,800.70.

Other equities in the top five traded stocks included ETI, CAL, GCB, and SIC, though their volumes were significantly lower in comparison.

The day’s gains underscore robust investor activity and a positive outlook for the equity market, as leading stocks continue to drive market performance.

Banking Equities

Ecobank Ghana (EGH) saw limited activity with 235 shares traded at a total value of GHS 1,527.50. The stock opens today at GHS 6.50, giving the bank a market capitalization of GHS 2.09 billion based on its 322.55 million issued shares.

Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) recorded no trading activity, maintaining its share price at GHS 23. With 134.76 million shares issued, SCB’s market capitalization remains at GHS 3.09 billion.

Mining Equities

Asante Gold’s shares closed unchanged at GHS 8.89, reflecting zero trading activity. The company’s market capitalization stands at GHS 4.17 billion, with 469 million shares issued.

Atlantic Lithium Ghana (ALLGH) witnessed trading activity as 373 shares exchanged hands at GHS 6.12, amounting to GHS 2,282.76 in value. The company’s market capitalization is valued at GHS 4.24 billion with 693 million shares issued.

Petroleum Equities

GOIL saw no trading activity, closing at GHS 1.52. With 391.86 million issued shares, GOIL’s market capitalization is valued at GHS 595.63 million.

TotalEnergies similarly recorded no trading, maintaining its share price at GHS 13.20. The company’s market capitalization stands at GHS 1.46 billion, based on its 111 million issued shares.
