Two policemen alleged to be involved recent billion van robbery attacks
The Ghana Police Service has indicated that preliminary investigations into the multiple bullion van attacks have established the involvement of two policemen among a number of other suspects.
They noted that investigations are still ongoing and that those involved will be brought to book.
The country was faced with multiple bullion van robbery attacks during the first half of 2021 and early months of 2022.
These criminal cases took place in multiple areas including Kingsway, Baatsona, Jamestown as well as North Kaneshie.
The Ghana Police Service disclosed this in a press statement issued on March 7, 2022, giving updates on the progress of their investigations into these crimes.
“The ghana police service, after several months of painstaking intelligence-led operations at the highest level, has made a major breakthrough in the investigations into multiple bullion van robberies recorded in the Greater Accra area. These are: Kingsway, in February 2021, Baatsona (Spintex), in March 2021, Jamestown(Adedemkpo), in June 2021, and Attempted robbery at North Kaneshie (Industrial Area ), in February 2022.
“Preliminary investigations have established the involvement of two policemen among a number of other suspects. The investigations are continuing and we expect to soon bring all culpable people to face justice’’.
The police added that further details of the investigation will be made available to the general public as and when needed. The service also called on Ghanaians to support them.
‘’The public will be given further details as soon as it is possible to do so without compromising the ongoing investigations.
“We wish to assure the general public that the ghana police service will continue to work hard and to rid our country of criminal activities that disrupt the peace and stability of the nation, therefore, we call on all to support us in this endeavour,” the Service stated.
