Tyson Fury wants $500m to resume his career and defeat Joshua’s conqueror Usyk

Tyson Fury wants $500m to resume his career and defeat Joshua’s conqueror Usyk

WBC heavyweight champion Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) wants a mountain of dough to get him to take the challenge of fighting what many boxing fans believe is the #1 fighter in the division in IBF/WBA/WBO champion Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs).

Usyk has the most belts to prove he’s the best, and he’s got a better resume than Fury, whose only credible name on his resume is Wladimir Klitschko, but that was an OLD Wlad that Tyson got way back in 2015.

For Fury to be asking for that kind of green confirms the view that fans have that he’s afraid of Usyk and what he’ll do to him. Losing to Usyk would wreck Fury’s career, exposing him as just a fighter that has used his size to maul his way to wins over limited opposition.

“Even that $200 million report from the Sun today, that didn’t even tempt me. I think that would be half of what I would want to come out of retirement,” said Tyson Fury to talkSPORT Boxing, when asked about him coming back.

“I’d probably want half a billion to come out of retirement,” continued Fury. “AJ’s bubble has been burst. Go get a half a billion, and then I’ll go solve all his problems for him.”

If Tyson is lucky, he’ll get a $50 million offer to fight Usyk after he makes easy work of the shell of Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) on August 20th in Saudi Arabia, but that’s probably about it.

If Fury turns down the $50M or so offered for him to fight Usyk, it can only mean one thing. He knows he can’t beat this talent.

Charles Brun doubts that Fury will even entertain the idea of fighting Usyk because it’s pretty clear at this point that he doesn’t want any part of the former undisputed cruiserweight champion.

Eddie Hearn was right. Fury will stay retired if Usyk defeats Joshua because he doesn’t want to fight him, and it’s understandable why. It’s a terrible style match-up for Fury, who has become a simple mauler since joining up with Sugarhill Steward.

Fury isn’t the massive star that AJ is, and without him or Deontay, he will not bring in the vast numbers to command more than a $50M purse.

“If AJ gets beaten again by Usyk, there’s only going to be one man that is going to redeem this great fighting nation of the United Kingdom, and he goes by the name of Tyson Fury.

“I can solve all the problems, the embarrassment that’s going to happen. One call, but it’s going to cost half a billion,” said a delusional-sounding Fury.
