U-20 WAFU Girls Cup: Ghana beat Burkina Faso to book final clash against Nigeria

Ghana came from behind to beat Burkina Faso 3-1 to reach the finals of the WAFU B U-20 Girls Cup of Nations.

The Princesses conceded inside four minutes after Afi Amenyaku failed to deal with a cross from the left and Burkina Faso bundled in to put them in front.

Stella Nyame restored parity for the Princesses in the 13th minute when she scored from a well taken free kick inside.

Wasima Mohammed’s corner found Success Ameyaa who scored from long range to put the Princesses in front in the 28th minute.

Both teams created chances at the end of the first half but couldn’t convert any as the Black Princesses went into the break with a 2:1 advantage.

Yussif Basigi brought on comfort Owusu for Rose Boakyewaa in the 46th minute.

The Princesses had glorious goal scoring chances with Comfort Owusu coming close in the 56th minute but her effort hit the side of the post much to the relief of Burkina Faso.

Burkina Faso were awarded a penalty in the 78th minute but Ghana goalkeeper Afi Amenyaku parried the ball to safety to keep Ghana in the game.

The Black Princesses extended their lead in the 83rd minute when Maafia Nyame cut the ball to Faiza Seidu who put it beyond the goalkeeper for the third goal.

The Black Princesses will play Nigeria on Saturday, June 3 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
