We Will Build a Ghana That Works For Everybody, Not A Few People – Mahama Assures

President-elect John Dramani Mahama, in his acceptance speech following his victory in the 2024 Presidential elections as declared by Electoral Commission Chairperson Jean Mensa, delivered a vision of unity, progress, and inclusivity for Ghana’s future.

Speaking with conviction, Mr Mahama highlighted his administration’s focus on creating a Ghana that “works for everybody and not just a few people,” emphasizing the need for equitable opportunities and dignified living for all citizens.

“We want a Ghana that considers the well-being of all its citizens and affords them the ability to live a life of dignity, a life of limitless opportunity,” he said, stressing the shared responsibility of every Ghanaian, from laborers to professionals, in driving the country’s progress.

Commitment to Economic Growth and Social Equity

Mr Mahama reiterated his commitment to economic reforms, citing the proposed 24-hour economy initiative as a key driver of job creation and sustainable growth.

He emphasized meeting the basic needs of Ghanaians, including affordable housing, healthcare, clean water, and fair wages, as critical steps toward achieving his vision of shared prosperity.

“Our most basic needs must be met. Affordable housing and healthcare, food and clean water, safe work and fair wages,” he stated.

Unity in Diversity

Addressing the diverse fabric of Ghanaian society, the president-elect called for unity and inclusiveness. “This country is not for one person, one family, one tribe, or ethnic group. This beautiful, resilient, and resource-rich country, Ghana, is for all of us,” he declared.

He urged citizens to cherish and share their cultural heritage while collectively building a nation where everyone can thrive.

Governance and Global Impact

Mr Mahama pledged to lead a government that represents the aspirations of all Ghanaians, regardless of political affiliation.

“Every vote that was cast in this election carried the same weight, I promise to assemble and lead a government that will carry the weight of those hopes and dreams, whether you voted for me or not,” he assured.

He reflected on Ghana’s history of leadership in Africa, underscoring its legacy of democracy, innovation, and global influence. “It is not by accident that Ghana has been and will continue to be a mighty force on the world stage,” he remarked, celebrating the nation’s contributions to global leadership and progress.

A Call to Action

Concluding his speech, the President-elect called on Ghanaians to unite in achieving a shared vision of prosperity and excellence, asserting that Ghana’s progress would elevate the entire African continent.

“When Ghana rises, we all stand tall with it, and Africa rises with us too,” he affirmed.

Mr Mahama’s address signals a renewed commitment to inclusive governance, economic revitalization, and the strengthening of Ghana’s position as a beacon of democracy and development on the global stage.
