Tullow Ghana to Shut Down Jubilee Oil Field for 16-Day Maintenance
Tullow Ghana and its partners have announced a planned 16-day maintenance shutdown of the Jubilee Oil Field, set to commence on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, as part of efforts to enhance production efficiency and mitigate operational risks.
The scheduled shutdown will facilitate critical repairs and upgrades on the Kwame Nkrumah Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) vessel. Key activities include equipment retooling, leak testing, and system upgrades to expand gas export capacity.
The announcement comes on the back of Tullow Ghana’s successful completion of a 4D seismic survey on both the Jubilee and TEN fields. The survey is expected to refine future drilling prospects and improve long-term resource management.
To minimize disruptions to Ghana’s energy supply, Tullow Ghana has secured an agreement with the government to temporarily source gas from the TEN fields during the maintenance period. The measure is intended to ensure continued supply to power producers and industrial users.
The planned shutdown aligns with broader strategic objectives to extend the operational life of the FPSO and precedes a mini-drilling campaign scheduled for May 2025.
